About The I Am Albertan Book Initiative

The I Am Albertan book is designed to capture the essence of Albertans at the time of their
centenary. It contains photos from every corner of the province - at work, at play,
in solitude, at social gatherings and in his and her and her own environment.
The I Am Albertan book is 11x12”, 265 pages, filled with hunderds of present- day photographs.
Text in the form of quotes, statistics and data will further enhance the learning experince.
This is an updated look at the province right
now and it will be an invaluable document for future generations to look back upon
A lasting legacy The I Am Albertan book Initiative will provide at
least one copy of I Am Albertan to each school and library across the province. In the fall of
2005, 2500 books will land in the hands of young Albertans providing inspiration, personal
identity and community awareness. Alberta school cirriculum begins teaching Alberta in grade 4
and is taught further in grade 6. Consultation from grade 4 and 6 teachers reveals that their resources
are limited. The I Am Albertan book is not intended to be utilized as a textbook, however, it is a desirable
augmentation to their exisiting programs as well as providing their students with contemporary reference
material to explore. The Book Initiative ensures that schools and libraires across the province recieve, at
no cost, a beautiful resource to utilize long after the centennial is over.
